About National Chengchi University

National Chengchi University connects social inquiry with science and informatics

National Chengchi University describes a twelve-college structure covering liberal arts, social sciences, commerce, communication, foreign languages, law, science, international affairs, education, innovation, informatics, and the X Experimental College. The university also lists a College of Global Banking and Finance. Its introduction reports thirty-six departments, twenty-four graduate institutes, twenty-eight degree programmes, and eighty-eight academic units, including eight English-taught programmes. These figures are useful orientation, yet a named department and programme are needed to locate the route for one academic question.

The same introduction reports forty-nine undergraduate programmes, sixty-three master's programmes, fifteen on-the-job master's programmes, and forty-four doctoral programmes. It also gives a broad institutional count of about sixteen thousand students, more than one thousand international degree-seeking students, more than eight hundred exchange students, and more than one thousand four hundred faculty members. These numbers describe the university as a whole. They do not tell an applicant which unit teaches a method, supervises a project, or currently offers a particular research path.

Research centres at NCCU span politics, culture, technology, and public life

NCCU's university-level research list includes the Institute of International Relations, Election Study Center, Center for Sustainable Innovative Democracy, Center for Creativity and Innovation Studies, Taiwan Studies Center, Humanities Research Center, Center for Mind, Brain and Learning, Center for Aboriginal Studies, Center for the Study of Chinese Religions, Center for AI Interdisciplinary Research, Chinese Culture Metaverse Research Center, Center for Corporate Sustainability Management, and Center for Information Security Technology. The range creates useful starting points for questions about institutions, communities, media, culture, cognition, sustainability, and digital systems.

A centre name is not the same thing as a degree route. A political-science project may need the department, a fieldwork setting, and a supervisor's current work. A digital-culture project may connect informatics, communication, humanities, or the metaverse centre. A security question may sit in a technical unit while also involving law or public policy. The academic unit, programme description, and current research activity should be connected before a broad centre list is used in a comparison.

How to assess an NCCU study or research option

Define what you want to investigate and what would count as evidence. If the question concerns elections, international relations, language, communication, business, or education, identify the department that owns the disciplinary route. If it concerns artificial intelligence, information security, mind and brain, or sustainable systems, check whether the relevant centre works with the programme or graduate institute you are considering. For an English-taught route, read the individual programme page rather than applying one language assumption to the entire university.

The data panel provides institutional context about NCCU and does not assess one degree, research centre, supervisor, or project. For your shortlist, record the programme title, home college or institute, question, method, language context, and the live NCCU page carrying the description. Keep the university-wide headcount separate from programme-level evidence. A useful comparison should also state what kind of output the work would produce, such as a policy analysis, field study, communication project, computational model, or laboratory result. That detail makes the decision more concrete and easier to revisit. Add the expected population, material, or dataset when it is already named by the programme or centre.
